The Match.

You would have heard by now, the Lions won 2-1 over the Thais. And yesterday, the National Stadium was the place to be. I was looking forward to the match the whole day, and it helps that Bro was bugging us to hurry up and not be late, since he wanted the best seat in the house.
That pretty much explains why we were already seated in the stadium three hours before kick-off. But a little sun-tanning and holding the umbrella is much better than filing in the stadium with many others, and ended up getting seats behind the goal posts ehh.
It's been awhile, I mean,
years since I watch a 'live' football match. The last time was like more than 10 years ago, when I was still a little kiddo. It's still vivid in my (superb) memory, those Fandi Ahmad era. But at that time, I spend half the 90 minutes fiddling with the binoculars trying to figure out who's who, where and all.
But I'm not going to get nostalgic here.
So the match was great. It's exciting.
No, it's excitingly dramatic, to be exact. I'm not going to sound like some sports reviewer or anything. You go read the papers, if you didn't watch the match.
Anything, the crowd was great. Lots of cheering (as much as jeering) And the Kallang roar. And the Kallang wave. (pretty sight.) And when the honks sounded, and we scream the magical two syllable word. (it was funny at first, but it got a little unecessary) And the "referee kayu!" shouts. And some "ole!ole!ole!..." cheers.
Yes, you get my drift. It was nice just being in the middle of the crowd and soaking in the atmosphere.
Oh, and what's football matches without some heating exchange of words ehh. I caught some people with a (middle) finger or two high up in the sky. oops? HAHA.

Anyhow, I was busy cheering and shouting and hitting those clappers when the Lions just scored, that I forgot about snapping a picture of them, when they ran out of the field, celebrating in front of us. But this one will do. :)

And that controversial "penalty or not?" issue was basically the highlight of the match. Everyone was cheering when the Lions earned a penalty, and were already standing, eager and all. So we were stumped when the Thais just walked off out of the field. Then the boo-ing started, and then the cheering, and then people got frustrated waiting. A good 15 minutes were wasted, and it's so drama, I tell you.

So yes. Thanks to the Lions for the great game. Thanks to the crowd for the chaos. And thanks to the great company. Because I had the fun-nest fun of the week. :)

And GOOD LUCK, LIONS!!!
Ok, cheers. :)
